View of the collapsed Government Secondary School at Jared. This building accommodated 300 students. From food to clothes, medicines to surgical instruments, tents to homes, breaking concrete to rescuing survivors, NUR Foundation did all that was possible.

At this time of devastation and tragedy, our nation showed a remarkable spirit. Their remarkable dedication needs to be appreciated as it is voluntary and reflects a basic humanity which is beyond recompense. NUR Foundation's entire effort was possible because it had generous donors at its back.

NUR Foundation commenced operations in October 2005, in response to the devastating earthquake that destroyed millions of lives across Pakistan. NUR Foundation was one of the first organizations to reach Mansehra District of NWFP following the October 8th Earthquake tragedy.

In collaboration with its collaborating partner, the Fatima Memorial System (Lahore),  NUR Foundation provided medical aid, food and shelter to the affectees. From food to clothes, from medicines to surgical instruments, from tents to homes, from breaking concrete to rescuing survivors,  NUR Foundation did all that was possible.

After the immediate relief and rehabilitation effort, NUR Foundation assisted Fatima Memorial System in setting up a permanent Hospital in Jared  the largest village in the Kaghan Valley which lost one fourth of its residents and almost all its houses, in the earthquake. The infrastructure includes a Hospital building and a residence for the two Medical Officers who run the facility round the clock.  Back-up medical staff is available from the tertiary care teaching Fatima Memorial Hospital (FMH).

The number of general OPD patients has doubled from 543 in September 2006 to 1087 in April 2007. Each month 15–20 patients are provided emergency care and 35–40 are vaccinated.

The 24 hours emergency service at the FMS Health Facility is of special importance for the population with such limited access to health services. Precious lives are being saved through this service.
